(08-13-2016 Dacono, CO) It was pure domination in the Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Model division as points leader Dominic Ursetta crushed the field leading almost every lap to take home the huge win on the Colorado Lottery Lucky For Life Night at CNS. Justin Case grabbed the win the Grand American Modifieds taking advantage of near crash up from between Ron O’Neil and Eddie Vecchiarelli in the late stages of the race. Curtis Heldenbrand won his second of the year in the Super Stocks and Randy Whitman scored another win the Mod Coupes.
Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models
The last time the Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models ran at CNS #58 Kyle Ray could do no wrong as he won big but on Colorado Lottery Lucky For Life Night Ray’s luck changed as he left the track early after sitting on the front row primed for another win. With Ray out #6 Dominic Ursetta grabbed the lead from #9 Justin Simonson and blazed a trail to the victory. Amazingly it was only the third win for Ursetta this season but his consistent top finishes have him at the top of the season standings.

Behind Ursetta Simonson ran strong in 2nd without any real challenges from any other cars after Brett Yackey who ran 3rd started to fade about 10 laps in to the race. The real movers and shakers in the race were #08 Jace Hansen and #11 Darren Robertson who seemed glued together as the moved up through the field and eventually into 3rd and 4th place. The two drivers battled lap after lap for position but could never gain on Simonson in 2nd place.
When the checkered flag flew it was Ursetta way out in front winning by 1.5 seconds over Simonson, Hansen, Robertson, and #12 Bruce Yackey.
With the win Ursetta built on his point lead and now has the top spot by 24 over Robertson with just 2 points races left in the 2016 season.

With just a couple laps to go Vecchiarelli made his move for the lead and the win but both Vecchiarelli and O’Neil got loose and slowed just enough for Case to pass both of them to take the lead and the exciting win. Vecchiarelli settled for 2nd place with O’Neil coming in 3rd. Jeff Walbaum took the 4th spot and #66 John Seely came home 5th

The Great Scott’s Eatery Super Stocks
A massive field of 26 Great Scott’s Eatery Super Stocks rumbled to the green flag for a 25 lap feature event with #51 Jax Hughes and #22 Brian Yackey on the front row. Yet on the first lap there was trouble as cars began to crash when the field bunched up coming out of turn two. As the dust of the crash collected #98 Natalie Phelps, #82 James Larsen, #86 Tim Coate, #5 Glen Poston, and #77 Michael Merchant who had all suffered damage in the melee. When the race resumed it was still Brian Yackey up front but now he was joined by #9 Curtis Heldenbrand and the two drivers began to duel for the lead.

In the later stages of the race after Yackey had begun to take control he pulled off the track with a tire going flat. This gave the lead over to Heldenbrand with #43 Kody Vanderwal not far behind. Heldenbrand ran the perfect line holding off the challenges of Vanderwal and 06h Adam Hilton to take the win his second of the 2016 season.

Vanderwal settled for 2nd with Hilton and #2 Chris Cox in 4th. The final spot in the top 5 went to #3 Michael Cox.
The Super Stocks are one of the divisions to watch this season with great car counts and a ultra-close points race. Heldenbrand is now the leader but by a single point over youngster Kody Vanderwal. Michael Cox is only 1 point behind Vanderwal in 3rd so it’s anybody’s race at this point in the season.
