(09-12-2014 Dacono, CO) Never before had three generations of drivers competed together in the same NASCAR sanctioned event until CNS legend Jerry Robertson joined his son Darren and his father Odie to race in the Super Late Model division. And while the Robertsons were making history Dominic Ursetta secured his first ever Super Late Model season championship with a 6th place finish. The fans were also treated to Gary Wells AKA “El Gringo Loco” jumping 12 semi trucks on his motorcycle.
Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models On a bitter cold September evening in Colorado, several firsts occurred at the speedway; Dominic Ursetta locked up his first Super Late Model Championship, Bruce Yackey won his first feature of 2014, and Jerry, Darren, and Odie Robertson marked a NASCAR first.
Jerry Robertson hadn’t raced at CNS for nearly 10 years but on this historic night he returned in his familiar #75 and had the chance to not only compete against his son Darren but also his father Odie. Three generations of drivers all competing together in the same division is a NASCAR first. It was clear that Jerry hadn’t lost his touch as he finished strong in the FAST DASH picking off several cars for a top 5 finish. Unfortunately for Jerry his night ended early in the feature with mechanical issues but it was still a great moment to see the three of them all racing together.

Up front in the feature #66 Darren Bucklen and #12 Bruce “the Moose” Yackey were thrilling the fans battling side by side lap after lap. At the halfway point in the race Bucklen’s 66 car was still maintaining a nose lead on Yackey but a late race caution would bunch the field. On the restart Yackey was able to overcome Bucklen and secure the lead as well as his first win of the 2014 season. Bucklen settled for 2nd, #22 Chris Eggleston was 3rd, #27 Roger the “ice man” Avants was 4th and #11 Darren Robertson was 5th.
#6 Dominic Ursetta had a 7 race win streak coming into the night but was caught up in traffic and could only muster a 6th place finish. However, that would be more than enough to lock up the 2014 Gillette Vet Super late Model season championship. Dominic has had a masterful season and leads his nearest competitor by an incredible 80 points.

RMRLA Legends In the month of September #66 Kyle Clegg has been the fastest Legend car on the track and it was no more evident on this night as he set quick time, won the FAST DASH, and took home the feature win.

Clegg started on the front row along side #6 Scotty Scott but it was #22 Chris Eggleston who came from the 7th starting spot to challenge for the lead. Clegg and Eggleston put on a great battle for position when Eggleston dove low coming out of turn two to grab the lead from Clegg. Yet on the very next lap Clegg pulled the same move on Chris to retake the top spot. At the finish it was Clegg in 1st followed closely by Eggleston in 2nd place. Last weeks winner Mike Gallegos in the #06 car finished 3rd and #34 Chris Cooper finished an impressive 4th after being sent to the back of the field earlier in the race. #6 Scotty Scott took home the final spot in the top five.

With just one points race remaining Chris Eggleston is clinging to a narrow 3 point lead on Mike Gallegos in the 2014 season standings.

POST RACE UPDATE: Pure Stock #32 Brett Yackey’s car did not conform to CNS Pure Stock rules. #96 Mike Steward has been awarded the victory. Brett Yackey now leads Steward by just 13 points in the season standings.
Original story… #32 Brett Yackey swept the Pure Stock events on his way to wrapping up the 2014 Pure Stock Championship. Yackey started back in 7th position in the feature but quickly moved up to challenge #3% Will Alvarado for the lead. #96 Mike Steward joined Yackey in the top three but Alvarado wasn’t making it easy running strong up front. Ultimately Yackey took control of the lead and after a brief battle with Steward, Yackey began to distance himself form the field. With the win the “Maverick” has now locked up the 2014 Pure Stock Championship with a 47 point lead and just one race remaining on September 27th.
