Kyle Ray Wins First on Father’s Day NASCAR Knockout

(06-18-2016 Dacono CO) Kyle Ray from Littleton Colorado grabbed control of the Super Late Model feature after a wreck took out several of the leaders earlier in the race. Once out front Ray went on to dominate the event winning his first ever in the Super Late Model division. Two Legend Cars feature events were ran with Danny Medina and Chris Eggleston taking turns in winner’s circle. Last but not least the Super Stocks and Pure Stocks raced a combined main event that featured an amazing 36 cars! Brian Yackey took the Super Stock division and David Robinson won the Pure Stock division.


Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models

16 Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Models took the green for a 40 lap feature which saw former Pro Truck Champ Happy Feree take the early lead. #22 Chris Eggleston and #11 of Darren Robertson challenged Feree for the lead making for an exciting race but unfortunately for Eggleston he would pull off the track with mechanical problems.

As the cars battled for the lead a crash up front involving Robertson, Feree, #12 Bruce Yackey, and #34 Rudy Vanderwal changed the landscape of the race and ended the night for both Robertson and Feree. After a long cleanup the race resumed and #6 Dominic Ursetta and #58 Kyle Ray began to battle for the lead. Ray used the low line to get around Ursetta and take the lead.

Once out front Ray found his groove and began to put distance between himself and the rest of the field. Ray would eventually go on to win his first ever Super Late Model feature at CNS. Behind Ray, Ursetta, #9 Justin Simonson, #27 Roger Avants, and #84 Matt Zwingleberg were the top 5 finishers.

The Super Late Models are right back in action on June 25th for the Mountain View Fire & Rescue night.

Great Scott’s Eatery Super Stocks and the Lincoln College of Technology Pure Stocks

Every now and then the Super Stocks and the Pure Stocks will run a combined feature event that is a fan-favorite at Colorado National Speedway due to the massive field of cars and wild and crazy action on the track. The Father’s Day race at CNS was one such event and that meant that 36 cars would lineup to take the green flag. As you can imagine there was action on every portion of the track with cars going 3-wide bringing the fans to the edge of their seats.

When the dust settled it was young Brian Yackey from Greeley taking the Super Stock win with #9 Curtis Heldenbrand in 2nd, #2 Chris Cox in 3rd, #10 Taylor Bellomy in 4th and #06 Jeffrey Dempewolf in 5th.

The highest finishing Pure Stock car was #7 David Robinson who executed a clean sweep in the division winning the feature, Fast Dash, and setting quick time. Behind Robinson was #21 Jamie Ward, #31 Michael Matthiesen, #33 Tyler Davis, and #6 Josh Friberg.

Legend Cars

Two Legend Car feature events were a unique highlight to the Father’s Day race at CNS and both were for championship points adding pressure and drama to the event. In the first feature, Danny Medina from Colorado Springs started up front and led every lap to set the tone for the night. Chris Eggleston in the #22 was second and #66 Kyle Clegg from Westminster was 3rd.

In the 2nd feature event it was Lakewood’s Adam Pechman in the #25 car with the early lead. Pechman would be joined by #6 Scotty Scott, Eggleston in the 22, Medina in the #15 and Ryan Jones from Arvada in the #21 creating a awesome battle for position. With a push from Medina Chris Eggleston moved to the front of the pack and never looked back taking the victory followed Medina, Ryan Jones, #3 Wayne Barlock Jr. and #46 Zach Witherwax from Arvada.

Super Sunday Monster Truck Show

The day after the father’s Day race the annual Super Sunday Monster Truck show made for a special day at the track for dads and their sons on Father’s Day. A packed house witnessed tons of amazing Monster Truck action and much much more. Here are some images from the event.
