A clear night at Colorado National Speedway, set the stage for an event full of (mostly) clean racing. Our friends at Adolfson & Peterson Construction were there to witness what we do best on Saturday nights, and fans of all ages kicked off their weekend with unforgettable and affordable fun. The concessions stands were hopping as always between events as attendees snagged great food and great deals, and a few of our friendly Dash-winning drivers even took the time to interact with our fans during our intermission autograph session. And, of course, all divisions certainly put on a show.

Dash – 10 Laps
Matt Brunker threw the No. 29 machine into first right out of the gate, but Bruce Yackey’s No. 12 did his best to reel him in, under pressure from the No. 84 of Matt Zwingelberg. With five laps left, Yackey’s No. 12 caught the No. 29 of Brunker. He made the pass, but Brunker’s No. 29 didn’t go away. He just about wore out Yackey’s rear bumper but couldn’t find a way around the No. 12 machine. Yackey was crowned winner.
Fast Dash – 10 Laps
The No. 32 of Brett Yackey got out front in a hurry and led for most of the race. The No. 05 of Nicholas Cooper caught him on the last lap and made an effort to find a way to complete the pass, but it was Yackey’s No. 32 out front when the checkered flag waved.
Feature – 40 Laps
The No. 24 of Dempster took the first lap by a hair, but debris on the front stretch slowed the field just one lap in. On the restart, Dempster’s No. 24 once again settled into the lead while polesitter Brody Moore’s No. 14 became mired in the pack. Kody Vanderwal’s No. 43 eked past Zach Morris’ No. 89 for second place after several laps of neck-and-neck racing, setting out to take the top spot away from Dempster’s No. 24. Before he could, the No. 29 of Brunker got sideways, causing a caution. The restart allowed Vanderwal’s No. 43 to get ahead of Dempster’s No. 24, but Dempster did not back down. They were side-by-side through every turn for several laps, and Vanderwal’s No. 43 found a little more and kept his nose ahead of Dempster’s No. 24. Then, contact between the No. 14 of Moore and the No. 3C of Cassidy Hinds slowed the field to caution once again with nine laps left.
On the restart, Vanderwal’s No. 43 again took over the top spot. Dempster’s No. 24 leaned on Vanderal’s left rear as they galloped through the turns. Dempster’s No. 24 bested Vanderwal’s No. 43 in the battle and took over first place, while Vanderwal suddenly found himself in danger of being passed by the No. 05 of Cooper. The two made light contact but kept their race cars pointed in the right direction. Their battle, however, allowed Dempster and the No. 24 machine to open a comfortable lead, and he cross the finish line with several car lengths over second-place Cooper and third-place Vanderwal for the win.

Dash – 10 Laps
No. 22, Travis Rudolph, easily put a few car lengths between himself and the rest of the field soon after the green flag. The No. 1G of Dale Geist held down second place while fending off the No. 66 of John Seely. Seely’s No. 66 kept working on Geist’s No. 1G machine, completing the pass with four laps left. Seely sent his No. 66 after Rudolph’s No. 22, looking to the inside in the final turn on the final lap to take the lead but his race car went wide and Rudolph guided the No. 22 to the checkers.
Fast Dash – 10 Laps
The No. 6 of Scotty Scott and the No. 51 of Kyle Clegg nailed the start as the green flag waved and raced side-by-side. However, a bizarre incident involving four cars unfolded in Turn 3, as the No. 24 of Nathan Gasser and the No. 13 of Darin Clark got sideways and collected the No. 99 of Jordon Smith and the No. 9 of CJ Wilson. Once the cars were cleared, Scott’s No. 6 and Clegg’s No. 51 fought hard up front, but Clegg was able to put some distance between himself and Scott to nab the Fast Dash win.
Feature – 25 Laps
Smith’s No. 99 was no worse for wear after his incident in the Fast Dash, and he took the green flag from the front for the GAM Feature. Wilson’s No. 9 was overtaken for second place by Clark’s No. 13 machine. Clark’s No. 13 closed on Smith’s No. 99 machine, while Gasser’s No. 24 closed the gap and lurked in third. Gasser’s No. 24 quickly found itself locked in a heated battle with the No. 51 of Clegg with 16 laps left, but Gasser was not keen on giving up his track position. A few laps later, Clegg slipped past Gasser, and then took over second place as he locked eyes on Smith’s No. 99 in first. Smith’s No. 99 had a mirror full of Clegg’s no. 51 as the laps ticked down. The two touched several times, but both drivers held onto their race cars and continued to race cleanly. Lapped traffic complicated the battle for first, allowing Clegg’s No. 51 to close the gap while Smith’s No. 99 tried to shut the door on him. Clegg made one last attempt to slip the No. 51 past Smith’s No. 99. Smith didn’t lift and led Clegg’s No. 51 across the line by a nose, earning his first GAM Feature win as a rookie in the division in dramatic fashion.

Dash – 10 Laps
Ryan Raley Jr No. 99Jr started out front for the SS Dash but was slowed on the first lap as the No. 62 of Amber Giles spun out in Turn 4. Raley’s No. 99Jr quickly took control of the lead when the green flag dropped again with the No. 11W of Scott Long in tow. A multicar incident slowed the field yet again, forcing Raley’s No. 99Jr to defend the lead on a third restart. Laps ticked by as Raley’s No. 99Jr and Long’s No. 11W fought side-by-side for the lead, touching several times but both kept it together. The No. 7 of David Robinson lurked in third, searching for a chance to make a move on the leaders. On the last lap, Raley threw his No. 99Jr after Long’s No. 11W one last time but couldn’t find a way around Long on the way to the checkers.
Fast Dash – 10 Laps
The No. 9 of Brent Cave was determined to lead the first lap, but the No. 32Y of Brett Yackey was on a mission to prevent him from doing so. He slipped back and found himself under pressure from the No. 23 of Jordan Abeyta while Cave’s No. 9 took off in first. After several laps of heated racing, the No. 32Y of Yackey snapped loose in front of the pack, collecting several other cars. Now the battle for first was between Cave’s No. 9 and Abeyta’s No. 23. They fought hard for the top spot, but Cave’s No. 9 held onto to lead as they flashed across the line.
Feature – 25 Laps
Hot off his stellar performance in the Fast Dash, Abeyta’s No. 23 leaped to the inside as the green flag flew on the SS Feature race with Messerli’s No. 99 hot on his tail. The field was tight throughout, and Troy Witthar No. 1NE sealed the deal for third place as they went four-wide behind him. Abeyta’s No. 23 began to set sail while Witthar’s No. 1NE reeled in Messerli’s No. 99 for second place, pulling the No. 32Y of Yackey through with him. The No. 82 of Ian Clark and the No. 6 of Ben Hendricks made contact on the back stretch but kept it clean and the race stayed green with 19 laps left. Meanwhile, Yackey’s No. 32Y and Witthar’s No 1NE battled hard for second while Abeyta’s No. 23 continued to dominate. The No. 32Y of Yackey finally clawed into second, but he had quite a bit of ground to make up to catch Abeyta’s No. 23 machine. Abeyta proved that his Quick Time-setting No. 23 was bad fast and claimed the SS Feature win by a long shot.

Feature: No. 23, Jordan Abeyta

Demo X
Demo X (pronounced “Demo Cross”) is always a wild way to end the night at CNS. The Lite class got out on track first, sowing chaos throughout the field over the infield jumps much to the thrill of the fans. The Heavies also put on a great performance, strewing dust and debris in their wake as they rounded out the night.
