There might be some truth to the circle track racing “vortex theory” – supposedly, as race cars circle around a track, it creates a rotational disturbance that’s said to stave off oncoming storms. On Saturday, June 10th, 2023, the skies looked dark everywhere except over CNS. The track stayed dry all night long, and the cooler temperatures made the perfect battleground for the Bandoleros, Legends, Super Late Models, Figure 8s, and Trains. Once again, CNS proved to be the best place to find affordable and unique family fun on a cool Saturday night, giving our fans something to smile about.

Dash – 10 Laps
Right at the drop of the green flag, the No. 12 of Bruce Yackey and the No. 37 of Ethan Hunter battled for the lead. Yackey’s No. 12 got the advantage heading out of Turn 2, while the No. 37 of Hunter settled in to defend second place against the No. 07 of Daniel Mares. The race stayed green even though a single car spun into the infield, and Yackey’s No. 12 crossed the line in first.
Fast Dash – 10 Laps
The No. 89 of Zach Morris took the lead away from the No. 24 of Cody Dempster right away, while Michael Scott’s No. 82 nosed into third place with the No. 43 of Kody Vanderwal keeping pace. Eventually Vanderwal’s No. 43 completed the pass and pulled the No. 58 of Kyle Ray through with him, demoting Scott’s No. 82 to fifth. Up front, Morris’s No. 89 and Dempster’s No. 24 checked out. Morris guided the No. 89 to the win.
Feature – 40 Laps
The No. 58 of Ray put up a fight against the No. 43 of Vanderwal, but fell to second as Vanderwal led the first lap. However, just three laps in, Ray secured the lead in the No. 58 machine and left Vanderwal’s No. 43 to do battle for second against the No. 24 of Dempster. Meanwhile, Scott’s No. 82 lurked in fourth, searching for his chance to take a shot at the leaders. Dempster passed Vanderwal and began to reel in Ray, but he couldn’t make progress, as the race was red flagged for the No. 29 of Matt Brunker, who ended up in the infield with a fire under the hood. Safety crews attended to the race car and the race resumed.
Ray’s No. 58 took the restart beside Dempster’s No. 24 and reclaimed the top spot even as the No. 3 of John Negri III spun off Turn 2. Shortly thereafter, the No. 3c of Cassidy Hinds pulled to the infield with an apparent issue, but the race stayed green, allowing Vanderwal’s No. 43 and Scott’s No. 82 to battle side-by-side for third. Up front, Ray’s No. 58 continued to lead over Dempster’s No. 24. Just past halfway, Vanderwal’s No. 43 was contacted by the No. 32 of Brett Yackey, earning a frustrated bump from Vanderwal. Then, the No. 43 of Vanderwal wound up locked in a battle for fifth place with the No. 12 of Bruce Yackey. Yackey’s No. 12 claimed fifth, while Vanderwal’s No. 43 continued to fall back, eventually falling into the clutches of Scott’s No. 82 and exchanging contact back in sixth place.
Ray continued to hit his marks in the No. 58, while Dempster’s No. 24 and Morris’s No. 89 fought for second. Morris clawed his way past and set his sights on Ray. However, Ray’s No. 58 was on rails and stretched to a comfortable lead as he flashed across the finish line to claim the win.

Dash – 10 Laps
Cody Milan’s No. 32 started third but looked past the No. 48 of Preston Nakayama for the lead in short order. He checked out, while the No. 75 of Austin Hackenberg and the No. 01 of Gary Land did battle for fourth place. Land eventually made the pass and eked into third. The No. 95 of Jessilyn Dike spun on her own on Lap 5, causing a yellow and setting up a restart. Milan’s No. 32 took the lead away from Nakayama’s No. 48 and didn’t look back, taking the Dash win.
Fast Dash – 10 Laps
Chris Eggleston’s No. 22 led the first few laps over the No. 21 of Ryan Jones. He set sail, while a thrilling battle for fourth took place between the No. 6 of Scotty Scott and the No. 16 of Travis Roe. Roe earned fourth, while Scott’s No. 6 barely claimed fifth at the line. Eggleston’s No. 22 was the uncontested Fast Dash winner.
Feature – 25 Laps
Thirty Legend cars took the green for the combined feature, putting Roe’s No. 16 up front. Jones put the No. 21 on the point on the second lap, while Roe’s No. 16 fell to fourth and Scott’s No. 6 chased Jones’ No. 21. It didn’t take long for Eggleston’s No. 22 to take second away from the No. 78C of Colton Crocker, and then he began to reel in the No. 21 of Jones still in the lead. Lapped traffic became an obstacle around Lap 12, allowing Eggleston’s No. 22 to narrow the gap on Jones’ No. 21 machine. You could throw a blanket over the top three, as Jones’ No. 21 led Eggleston’s No. 22 and Crocker’s No. 78C. In Turn 3, Eggleston finally found his opening and threw the No. 22 into first place, taking the No. 78C of Crocker with him and pushing Jones’ No. 21 to third.
Before Eggleston could put some real estate between himself and Jones, the No. 57 of Jarrett Scarberry contacted No. 17 of Jeremy Krueger who spun, causing a yellow. The ensuing restart saw Eggleston’s No. 22 take off with the lead again, while Jones’ No. 21 reclaimed second place. He ended up grazing the wall, allowing the No. 78C of Crocker to take back P2 while Eggleston’s No. 22 went on to win the feature.

Dash – 10 Laps
Back to form, the No. 52 of Jared Wall started up front for the F8 Dash, next to the No. 3 of Michael Wolfe Jr. The No. 15 of Jereme Wall started in the rear. A man on a mission, Jereme Wall threw the No. 15 through the field, attempting to chase down the No. 52 of Jared Wall while dodging competitors in The X. He didn’t have enough laps to get it done, and Jared Wall’s No. 52 claimed the Dash win.
Feature – 20 Laps
The No. 67 of Kaleigh Swenson and the No. 3 of Wolfe started up front for the Feature, while the No. 08 of Travis Sanders and the No. 15 of Jereme Wall set out toward the front right at the drop of the green flag. Jared Wall’s No. 52 was side-by-side with Jereme Wall’s No. 15 for second place in short order, tracking down the No. 3 of Wolfe around the eight-shaped course. Jereme Wall’s No. 15 took the top spot away, stretching his lead over the No. 3 of Wolfe, the No. 52 of Jared Wall, and the No. 08 of Sanders. Things heated up in the crossroads, forcing the leaders to navigate tight gaps but managing to avoid incident. Jared Wall pushed his No. 52 into second over the No. 3 of Wolfe. Then, with one lap left, The No. 67 of Swenson, one lap down, was struck by the No. 52 of Jared Wall in Turn 3, but the track stayed green for Jereme Wall’s No. 15 to take the familiar checkered flag.

Dash - 10 Laps
In the Bandit Dash, the No. 98 of Kyleigh Novak grabbed the lead in a hurry, while Reagan Fruge’s No. 5 took second. Taking advantage of a battle, Fruge guided the No. 5 into the lead right away, and he stretched the lead while the No. 95 of Jaxon Muhler and the No. 89 of Novak battled for second. Fruge’s No. 5 navigated dicey traffic to take the Dash win.
Feature - 12 Laps
That set the stage for a swift Feature, with the No. 29 of Nora Smith on the front row. The No. 5 of Fruge held down second behind the No. 12 of Aspyn Lange – until he spun, allowing the No. 12 of Lange and the No. 23 of Peyton Opperman to take off with the lead. The No. 95 of Jaxon Muhler made it difficult to navigate the short track, causing the No. 12 of Lange and Np. 23 of Opperman to race neck-and-neck for the lead with one lap left. The No. 12 of Lange nosed just ahead of Opperman’s No. 23 to take the feature victory.

Dash - 10 Laps
The short Dash had the No. 68 of Wyatt Dent and the No. 38 of Javon Barnard up front. Dent’s No. 68 checked out while Barnard’s No. 38 and Madilyn Lange’s No. 21 fought for P2. Barnard’s No. 38 kept second, while Dent’s No. 68 opened a comfortable lead all the way to the checkered flag.
Feature - 12 Laps
The Outlaw Feature had the No. 38 of Barnard up front, leading the first lap over the No. 09 of Cody Bergren. They raced each other hard, even while the No. 61 of Lilly Tuttle spun in Turn 1. The race stayed green, and the No. 21 of Lange eked around the No. 09 of Bergren for P3, while the No. 68 of Dent got by the No. 38 of Barnard for the lead. He checked out, and took home the Feature win.

Witthar Racing Trains
Feature - 7 Laps
Five Trains may not seem like a lot, but that’s more than enough competitors to make a chaotic and thrilling race. The No. 80HD SNAFU led early over the No. 86 Last Call as they dove through The X. The No. 151 Crazy Train certainly lived up to its name, coming in a bit hot into Turn 2 and throwing its rear two cars up on two wheels, but they slammed back down and continued on. Then, on Lap 5, the No. 80HD SNAFU suddenly lost all speed, allowing the No. 86 Last Call to take the lead and ultimately win – despite its engine car catching fire in Victory Lane!
