Bruce Yackey has been the car to beat in the Late Model division ever since the halfway point in the season and he proved once again that 2012 might just be the year of "the moose". Yackey started the main event in the 3rd row yet by lap 13 Bruce had grabbed the lead by passing #84 Matt Zwingleberg and #74 Dan Savage in one swoop. From there Bruce never looked back winning his 4th straight Late Model feature event. The only challenge to Yackey's win came from last years champ #74 Dan Savage who tried the outside on Yackey after a late race double-file restart. Savage pressured Yackey for a lap or two but Yackey stayed smooth and eventually built back up a large lead over the field. Behind Yackey and Savage, #66 Darren Bucklan, #11 Darren Robertson, #33 Emett Grazier, #84 Matt Zwingleberg, #7 Adam Deines, and #27 Roger Avants were all battling for position and thrilling the fans. As the race neared the conclusion it appeared as if the fastest car on the track might have been the black and yellow #11 of Darren Robertson as he moved his way into 4th and began to push hard for 3rd spot from #22 Chris Eggleston. Yackey cruised to the win but all eyes were on the finish for 2nd place as Savage, Eggleston, and Robertson crossed the line 3 abreast, and just inches apart. Rounding out the top 5 was #39 of Jack Nugent.

Roger Avants celebrates his victory (Starr photo)Snap-On Tools Pro Trucks
#27 Roger Avants led the first half of the Pro Truck main event and it appeared that this race might go flag to flag without a caution as all the drivers were settling into their own groove. Yet nothing could prepare the CNS fans for what they were about to see next as several trucks jostled for position and the #0 "the painter" Billy Harkins who had nowhere to go climbed up over the front of another truck and then proceeded to barrel roll down the front straightaway. Harkins truck flipped three times and sailed high into the air on the final rotation. To the relief of the crowd Billy jumped out of the mangled Pro Truck and waved to the CNS fans. After the cleanup and the race resumed Avants piloted to the win. A late race surge by #31 Justin Simonson was enough to take 2nd place and the #07 of Chris Leaf came in 3rd.

Kyle-Ray-winsRMLRA Legends
If there is one thing you can count on this season at Colorado National Speedway it's that the RMLRA Legend division will bring a HUGE field of cars to compete each and every time they visit the track. It was no different on this night as 27 top of the line Legend cars lined up for a 25 lap main event. #58 Kyle Ray started in the 4th position but quickly moved into the top spot by lap three. #22 Chris Eggleston and #66 Kyle Clegg pulled up on Ray's bumper and began to challenge him for the lead. After #12 Cody Castor brought out a late race caution Clegg was able to get by Eggleston for 2nd and began to pressure Ray for the lead. Behind the leaders #13 Pete Delarco and #21 Ryan Jones were having a great run maintaining 4th and 5th positions. The trio of Ray, Clegg, and Eggleston masterfully worked their way through lapped traffic. Clegg and Eggleston did everything in their power to get by Ray but the #58 car wouldn't open the door and cruised on to take the hard fought victory. Clegg and Eggleston had to settle for 2nd and 3rd. #06 Mike Gallegos grabbed 4th and the red #13 of Pete Delarco finished 5th.

Jeff Hansen wins his 6th main event of the season (Starr photo)Sunoco Grand American Modifieds
The first 10 laps of the Grand American Modified main event were filled with spins, bumps, and tempers flaring. As the race settled in #28 Jeff Hunter, #1 Jay Fields, and #77 Jeff Hansen were putting on a great battle for the lead. Hunter gave a valiant effort to hold off the dominating #77 of "flippy" Jeff Hansen but eventually Hansen worked under Hunter to take the lead. Jeff went on to win his 6th Grand American Modified main event of the season extending his point lead on Hunter who finished 2nd in the race.

Johnson dominated the field once again leading almost all the 25 laps. #50 Justin Mackeachie ran a great race holding off #20 Lance Proctor for 2nd place. Behind Mackeachoie and Proctor #24 Joe Martinez came in 4th and #23 "Big" Al Duran came back through the field after being sent to the rear and finished an impressive 5th place.
