(Dacono, CO 06-18-2011) On a beautiful Father's Day evening a packed Colorado National Speedway grandstand saw up-and-coming NASCAR star Chris Eggleston take the late model win followed by last years champion "Speedy" Ronnie Hults.

Eggleston found his groove and built an early lead over last year's champion #42 "Speedy" Ronnie Hults. The real battle was for third as #12 Bruce Yackey, #83 Jim Sikes Jr., #74 Dan Savage, and #27 Roger Avants swapped positions lap after lap keeping the CNS crowd on the edge of their seats. The young but seasoned Chris Eggleston navigated lapped traffic to perfection and held off "speedy" Ronnie Hults to take the win. #12 Bruce Yackey was in third, #83 Jim Sikes Jr., came in fourth and #74 Dan Savage rounded out the top five.

Lee Kemmit battles Mark Neff at CNS (Joe Starr photo)Pair A Dice Interiors Sportsman
If we have learned one thing in this early CNS race season it's that Lee Kemmit in the GTI Pontiac is a racer on a mission and it wasn't any different this past Father's Day. Sportsman car #99 Nick Brinlee led the field to the green flag in the 30 lap main event but on lap five #98 Lee Kemmit took control of the race as Brinlee fell six spots. Mark Neff got the ride in the Jing Daddy Motorsports #41 and he was making the best of it as he pulled up on Kemmit's rear bumper at the halfway point of the race. Kemmit and Neff pulled away from #6 Tommy Roe, #46 Eric "Blackie" Blackard, #84 Bruce Borchardt, and #8 Jeff Walbaum. Neff did everything in his power to get by Kemmit, even getting sideways coming out of the final turn but it was the determined Kemmit who took the checkered.

The CNS Modified main event was full of intrigue as each qualifying race was won by a car from each of the two different types of modifieds in the race. #95 Cris Muhler dominated his heat in a CARC mod coupe while #08 Jace Hansen dominated his heat in a Grand American Modified. But it was mod coupe #55 Gary Land who grabbed the early lead. At the halfway mark #08 Jace Hansen had worked his way past Land and #95 Cris Muhler was right on his tail. The ultimate battle between coupe and GAM was finally coming to fruition. Hansen and Muhler brought the massive CNS crowd to their feet as they miraculously worked through lapped traffic. Yet with just 3 laps to go and Muhler breathing down Hansen's neck, Muhler's #95 coupe spun in his own engine oil coming out of turn two sending subsequent cars in every direction to avoid Muhler's machine. With Muhler out of the picture #08 Jace Hansen (GAM) cruised to an easy win followed by #55 Gary Land (coupe), #24 Chad Guilford (coupe), #20 Rich Bubak (coupe), and #4 Mark Sopr (GAM) rounded out the top five.

Joe Martinez and Big Al Duran (Joe Starr photo)A Comfort Shack Figure 8's
Tires were smoking and fenders were banging as the Figure 8 main event thrilled the CNS fans. Heat race winner #24 Smokin' Joe Martinez built a large lead on the field. But with 4 laps to go #67 Keith Swenson spun in the X and car #05 Buddy Hahn Jr. had nowhere to go and partially t-boned Swensen in a very hard collision that sent parts flying in every direction. Both drivers were okay but their cars were done for the night. As the race resumed with 2nd in points Joe Martinez leading the race and current points leader #23 Big Al Duran close behind. After the restart Smokin' Joe was able to hold his line and win the race followed by #23 Duran, #28 Vic Johnson, #52 Wally Wall, and #17 Harry Livermore Jr. rounding out the top five. With the win Martinez assumed the points lead over Big Al by 4 points.
