Pro Trucks

#1 Happy Ferree finds the perfect line around the 3/8 mile track at Colorado National Speedway, taking a well deserved main event win.

Early on, #1 Happy Ferree and #07 Chris Leaf had a tight battle for the top spot. After an intense fender to fender bout, Happy pulled ahead for the lead, just barely holding off the ever approaching Leaf.

Through one yellow flag and more than a few field thinning black flags, Happy pushed the envelope and took a commanding lead. Leaf and #7 Adam Deines dueled heatedly for second.

The race was shortened from 30 to 20 laps due to time restraints. This surprise change of plan sealed the fate for anyone hoping to catch up to the front man.

Happy took lap 20’s turn 4 with authority sealing his first win of the season.

After a turbulent rookie year in ’08 which saw him take second place overall for season points in the Pro Truck division, this first victory is a great start to the ’09 season for Happy Ferree.

Chris Leaf just barely inched out Adam Deines in an exciting second place battle. Adam had won the pro truck qualifier, so this battle for second place was easily the highlight of the night.

Mod Coupes

After taking first in the evening’s qualifier, it was no surprise that #90 Frank Denning would lead the pack during the main event. Red flag on lap 13 due to oil on the track slowed things down and brought the field back into an exciting "doublefile" restart.

On the restart, #15 Rick Bubak fired off like a 9 mm round taking the opportunity to inch out Frank Denning for the lead. Rick & Frank moved way ahead of the pack as Frank’s #90 inched up on Rick’s Coupe taking first via a pass on the outside at lap 19. Denning kept his momentum and was untouchable, earning him the win followed by Rick Bubak, #55 Gary Land, #45 Carl Vair & #12 Jamie Bubak.

Legends

A characteristic Legend race is anything but ordinary.

#22 Chris Eggleston was in the groove for the win from the beginning. #51 A.J Canada spun out in a cloud of dust on turn 4 of lap 3 resulting in a pile up and a yellow flag. #8 Jon Krizman was hot on the tail of Chris Eggleston coming out of the caution lap, but Eggleston quickly broke away for the lead. Several laps later #17 Bill Yeros’ Legend pulled a 360 with a group on his tail. All cars recovered nicely. #84 Mike Webber & Bill Yeros sprouted wings on the tail of Krizman as the 3 closed in on Chris Eggleston. Chris moved off in defiance and took a lead that couldn’t be messed with. #03 went airborne after cars had tangled up just in front of him and a pile up ensued. Badly damaged, #8 & #3 left the track. Eggleston took the lead off the caution lap to win the race followed by Webber, Yeros, #93 John Beker & #62 Phil Peconi.
