Memo to All Race Teams,

We at Colorado National Speedway hope you are all having a wonderful winter and holiday season.  Believe it or not, the 2011 race season is just around the corner. No season would be complete without the annual Colorado Oval Track Trade Show. As usual, we will have a booth at the show where you will be able to purchase the following:

• 2011 NASCAR License (online NASCAR license renewals are available if you were a NASCAR member in 2010 @ nascarmembers.com)
• CNS Car Registration and Number Form ($75 per registration) Any team changing drivers mid-season will be required to purchase a new number for that new driver, so please keep that in mind when choosing your numbers. There will be no Duplicate numbers allowed, as was the case last year. The number will stay with the driver all season per the 2011 rule book.
• Rules books can be printed on-line after January 20, 2011 at (www.coloradospeedway.com).  A limited number of printed copies will be available at the show.
• Pit Stall Reservations ($75.00)

Note: The 2010 competitor’s numbers and pit stalls will be held until Jan 22, 2011 this year. Therefore, please plan to reserve your numbers and pit stalls prior to or during the Trade Show.  If you are not able to attend the show, you may phone ahead and pay for your numbers and/or stalls by credit card.  PLEASE NOTE:  All 2011 Numbers and Pit Stalls not reserved will become available on a first come first served basis on January 23, 2011.

Colorado National Speedway Ownership and Management would like to announce a division change for the 2011 race season. As most of you are aware, the Grand American drivers were notified that the Grand American division was being dropped at CNS effective 01/01/11 due to a number of factors. After listening to our racers thoughts and concerns we went back to work to come up with a possible alternative solution.   After much discussion, we have decided to combine the Grand American Modifieds with the Modified Coupes for a period of 1 year. Both Divisions have struggled with car counts and this will be our last attempt to help build these classes back up to where they belong in order to maintain an individual class going forward. We believe this will enhance the entertainment value of the product we put in front of our fans each week, as well as provide the participants in each of the two classes an opportunity to increase car counts and build strength within their respective divisions.

Each division will run their own rules, and be awarded separate points. We hope this will allow both divisions to eventually return back to separate divisions. We at CNS are excited about this new combination and will work very closely with both CARC and the Grand American drivers and owners to work through the inevitable challenges that will result from this change. We feel it’s the right thing to do for all of our racers in these divisions that have supported our track over the years, as well as our fans who deserve strong, full field classes to watch each week.

In addition, we have unfortunately also found it necessary to drop the Bus class from the 2011 schedule.  As a result of these changes, the Figure 8’s will replace the GAM’s as our 5th NASCAR Weekly Series Division, receiving all of the recognition and awards that come with being a sanctioned class.

Another amazing season has come and gone and with it, another year of excitement, wrecks, fire and champions.

It was a wild one for the Late Models. Speedy Ronnie Hults got off to a good start, piloting his #42 machine into victory for two consecutive wins to start out the Late Model season. Dan Savage, Chris Eggleston and Roger Avants brought their A Game to the track taking the next 3 Late Model A-Mains respectively. It wasn't until the epic midseason championship, that Ronnie Hults took his third win. A massive pile up involving at least 10 competitors during the midseason championship thinned out the field of Late Models considerably for the next several weeks. Despite that fact that far fewer cars were on the track, Roger Avants found the competition even more fierce and still managed to find the line into winner's circle for 3 consecutive events. For the remainder of the season, former CNS champ Bruce Yackey, Rick Smith, Dan Savage and Joe James Jr were always in the mix toward the front of the field, making the fight for the top spot even more exciting. In the end Ronnie Hults pulled off an amazing succession of consistent wins and top 5 finishes and was crowned king of the Late Models taking the 2010 Season Championship.

A heated battle up front between Ed Vecchiarelli Sr and Darren Robertson, turned sour as the two made violent contact and left the night's event. After the wreck, the stage was set for Dan Savage and Chris Eggleston to duel for the win. Ronnie Hults, Roger Avants and Bruce Yackey all had a shot at the championship and all performed brilliantly. Hults and Yackey patiently navigated the field, opting to hold position instead of making risky passes. Avants on the other hand was the evening's hard charger, finishing the race in 3rd place after being sent to the rear of the field. In the end Dan Savage took the win for the evening's event. However, the slower more patient line won the season championship for Ronnie Hults.

Friday October 29th - Driftoberfest! only 5 bucks

Woooooooo doggy! The NASCAR races are over but we've got one more event that's going to knock your socks off. Get down here on Friday October 29th at 6PM to see KBPI's Willie B shoot a pilot for a new gameshow on SPEED! The new game show is called MPH and if you're in the grandstands you'll have the chance to be a contestant! After Willie B's shoot we're having a drifting show with some of the most talented drifters in Colorado! Next up will be a circle drag race with drivers just like you who will be competing for a $500 K&N gift certificate! There's also going to be a motorcycle stunt show, awesome food, good people and let's not forget about Willie B! Cost to enter this event is only $5 so get here early before we sell out! We'll see you right here at Colorado National Speedway on October 29th at 6PM for Driftoberfest.
