Tire Softening Policy

Due in part to an overwhelming request from current competitors, effective July 2, 2011, the use of any tire softening agent will be strictly prohibited at Colorado National Speedway.

Each tire will now be marked at the race track when purchased with a detection agent provided by the manufacturer. This marking must not be molested in any way after application. The Tech Officials will also durometer all tires during pre-race tech. All tires must fall within a margin of +/- 5 on the durometer reading compared to new tire specifications from Hoosier Tire. In addition, markings will be randomly checked for the detection of softening agents. If any tire fails to meet any of these criteria, penalties will be assessed as follows:

Automatic disqualification, loss of points and money earned for the night, in addition to a $1000.00 fine.

In the event of a 2nd violation the fine will become an immediate suspension, loss of all points for the year and a $2,500.00 fine.

Please note that all fines must be paid prior to competing again at Colorado National Speedway.

If you have pre-purchased tires they will need to be brought back to CNS for marking.

Father's Day Monster Truck events a smashing success!!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!! That was the day for the Monster Truck extravaganza at Colorado National Speedway and it wasn't just any Sunday but it was also Father's Day which made the event that much more special. It was an afternoon of non-stop carnage and destruction as world class monster trucks thrilled the packed CNS stands as well as the maniacal Demo X cars that had fans on the edge of their seats the moment the green flag dropped banging, crashing, and scrambling to the finish. CNS fans were also treated to a motorcycle stunt team as well as the Tuff Trucks. Yet clearly the stars of the show were the ear drum busting Monster Trucks that destroyed everything in their path. The Monster Trucks had the CNS faithful cheering in unison by flying over and crushing perfectly good automobiles that are now even thinner than grandmas flapjacks. It was clear that these Monster Truck drivers are not only skilled but completely fearless as they didn't shy away from any obstacle in their way.

The CNS staff would like to thank all the drivers in all the various divisions for putting on a great show but most importantly the fans which turned out in huge numbers making it clear that this type of event should become a yearly tradition.

Chris Eggleston dominates on Father's Day at CNS

(Dacono, CO 06-18-2011) On a beautiful Father's Day evening a packed Colorado National Speedway grandstand saw up-and-coming NASCAR star Chris Eggleston take the late model win followed by last years champion "Speedy" Ronnie Hults.

#22 Chris Eggleston and #12 Bruce Yackey paced the field at the start of the 40 lap Gillet Vet Clinic CNS late model main event. Eggleston found his groove and built an early lead over last year's champion #42 "Speedy" Ronnie Hults. The real battle was for third as #12 Bruce Yackey, #83 Jim Sikes Jr., #74 Dan Savage, and #27 Roger Avants swapped positions lap after lap keeping the CNS crowd on the edge of their seats. The young but seasoned Chris Eggleston navigated lapped traffic to perfection and held off "speedy" Ronnie Hults to take the win. #12 Bruce Yackey was in third, #83 Jim Sikes Jr., came in fourth and #74 Dan Savage rounded out the top five.

Dan Savage holds off Roger Avants at CNS

(Dacono CO, 06-11-2011) A warm June evening at Colorado National Speedway was on tap for the Quaker Steak and Lube night that saw Late Model driver Dan Savage run a perfect race taking the win over Roger Avants, Bruce Yackey, Darren Bucklen, and Chris Eggleston.

At the start of the 40 lap late model main event only 4 points separated #12 Bruce Yackey and second place #66 Darren Bucklen but it was #74 Dan Savage and #27 Roger Avants who jumped out to the front of the pack in the early stage of the race. As the leaders approached lapped traffic it appeared as if that might be just the thing the "Ice Man" Avants would need to pass Savage and take the win but the Savageman ran the perfect race and cruised to the finish for the win. Roger Avants finished 2nd, #12 Bruce Yackey came in 3rd while #66 Darren Bucklen, and #22 Chris Eggleston rounded out the top 5. Young Bradley Tilton in the #4 late model finished an impressive 6th and also won his heat race.

Lee Kemmit comes from dead last to win the Sportsman feature during Coor's Night at CNS

Dacono CO June 4th 2011 - The weather was beautiful, the stands were packed and the racing was amazing for Coors Night at CNS. Lee Kemmit furiously came from the back of the field to beat teammate Tommy Roe by mere inches in the Pair A Dice Interior Finishes Sportsman main event, thrilling the CNS fans.

18 equally matched sportsman lined up for a 30 lap main event with blisteringly fast Lee Kemmit in the #98 GTI machine on the inside of row one and multi time winner #26 Bear Lynch on the outside. Kemmit was leaking fluid and had to leave the track but returned under caution to the back of the field. On the restart #43 Stan Griffin and #84 Bruce Borchardt made contact in turn one which sent several cars spinning and crashing. #17 Dave Deines lost his motor and dropped oil all over the track which brought out the red flag as NASCAR officials cleaned up the mess. The long cleanup lead officials to shorten the race to 20 laps. At the halfway mark, Tommy Roe had a good lead but he was now being hounded by his teammate in the 98 car Lee Kemmit who had come from the rear of the field to battle for the lead. Kemmit and Roe raced side by side for several laps, bringing the CNS fans to their feet. When the checkered flag flew Kemmit had pulled in front of Roe by mere inches to take the win.

Demo X
Pronounced: "Demo Cross"

What is Demo X you ask???
It's a cross between demolition derby and a motocross race. Vehicles are low budget with safety features installed inside. They must travel through a designated course and over jumps. It is a full contact race to the finish line.

There are no yellow flags (except warning flags like in motocross) if a car rolls over there will be a red flag – all cars stop and are healed in their position, then once “ok” the green flag is shown. If a car becomes dead on the track, the driver will hold a flag up from inside their car signaling his car is dead and there are no more hits on them. No “head on” or “T bone” hits to the driver’s door. This will not be tolerated and if this happens they will receive the black flag.

The starting of the race will be a standing start and the cars will be 3 wide at the start/finish line, they will race 10 laps. (Number of laps may vary) Any and all vehicles are welcome, the exception is a 4-wheel drive. It must have one drive-line removed. No vehicles over 5000 lbs. A racers dream is when someone gets in your way or is holding you back and you can take him out with no penalties.
