Rain claims July 9th races at CNS
It was Colorado Transportation night at CNS and all indication was it was going to be a great night of racing. The Late Models were all set to go and a huge field of Legend cars were on hand including recent winner Justin Irwin from New Mexico. Yet Justin would have had his work cut out for him as #15 Danny Medina was also in the pits, as was Tyler Chrisinger in his #12 legend car. The Super Stocks had a good field of cars and the Figure 8's and CNS Modifieds were set to thrill the CNS fans.
Rain started falling right before the first set of qualifying races but those clouds cleared up quickly. Sadly, that sprinkle was just a small taste as to what was to come. A massive storm dumped huge amounts of rain on CNS and lightning lit up the skies. The CNS officials had no choice but to call the event before it ever started.
Next week (07-16-2011) is USG Night at CNS and will feature the Sportsmans, Pro Trucks, Super Stocks, Legends, Supermodifieds, and Trains.
Speedy Ronnie Hults returns to CNS to win the 100 lap MID-SEASON Championship Feature
(Dacono, CO. 07-03-2011) Late Model #42 Ronnie Hults started all the way back in 14th position and worked his way to the front taking the lead from #66 Darren Bucklen with 29 laps to go. Ronnie took the Late Model win, #46 Rick Lothert won the Super Stock main, #22 Chris Eggleston won the legend feature, and #3 Harold Evans won the ERA Supermodified main event. At the end of the night the packed stands were treated to an award winning fireworks show, God bless America!

Pair A Dice Interiors Sportsman
A beautiful field of 19 Sportsman lined up for an epic 50 lap Mid-Season Championship Feature event at Colorado National Speedway. #58 Jeff Webb was on the pole and last year's champion #46 Eric "Blackie" Blackard was on the outside. The driver to beat this season #98 Lee Kemmit was inside row two and #8 Jeff Walbaum was on the outside. On the very first lap, car #62 Jim Bob Rogers and #02 Rick Hunt made contact sending Jim Bob into the wall ending his night. On the restart the familiar green #46 of Eric Blackard had the lead followed closely by #8 Walbaum. 15 laps into the feature and teammates Lee Kemmit and #6 Tommy Roe worked their way around Walbaum and Blackard and were battling each other for the lead. #58 Jeff Webb made hard contact with the wall and sent a shower of sparks down the backstraight with 29 laps remaining in the race ending his night. The double-file restart pitted GTI teammates Kemmit and Roe side by side but it was the rocket-fast Kemmit that maintained a slight lead until Kemmit's car began to sound rough and pulled off the track ending his winning streak and relinquishing the lead to Roe. The only thing between Roe and the win was a pack of lapped cars that were not going to move out of the way, Roe made a daring pass splitting the lapped cars and bringing the crowd to their feet. Tommy took the win followed by #8 Jeff Walbaum, #46 Eric Blackard, #41 Dale Reeder, and #45 Grant Simpson rounded out the top 5.
