Welcome to Colorado National Speedway
Memo to All Race Teams,
We at Colorado National Speedway hope you are all having a wonderful winter and holiday season. Believe it or not, the 2010 race season is just around the corner. No season would be complete without the annual Colorado Oval Track Trade Show. As usual, we will have a booth at the show where you will be able to purchase the following:
- 2010 NASCAR License (online NASCAR license renewals are available if you were a NASCAR member in 2009 @ nascarmembers.com)
- CNS Car Registration and Number Form ($75 per registration) Any team changing drivers mid-season will be required to purchase a new number for that new driver, so please keep that in mind when choosing your numbers. There will be no Duplicate numbers allowed, as was the case last year. The number will stay with the driver all season per the 2010 rule book.
- Rules books can be printed on-line after January 15, 2010 at (www.coloradospeedway.com). A limited number of printed copies will be available at the show.
- Pit Stall Reservations ($75.00)
Note: The 2009 competitor’s numbers and pit stalls will be held until Jan 24, 2010 this year, not March 1st as it has been in past years. Therefore, please plan to reserve your numbers and pit stalls prior to or during the Trade Show. If you are not able to attend the show, you may phone ahead and pay for your numbers and/or stalls by credit card. PLEASE NOTE: All 2010 Numbers and Pit Stalls not reserved will become available on a first come first served basis on January 25, 2010.
We look forward to seeing you at the show!
- Colorado National Speedway
CNS was considered the standard by which local short tracks around the country should map their business models from marketing and cost management perspectives. The enhanced web and media communications implemented in 2009 were recognized as “cutting edge” within the local NASCAR short track family.
Further, Colorado National Speedway’s continued efforts to minimize the ever growing expenses to each racer through extensive research in the development of competitive and cost effective rules packages was acknowledged and praised by NASCAR personnel and peer track management teams.
The ownership and management of Colorado National Speedway wishes to sincerely thank all who have worked hard and provided forward thinking ideas throughout this growing process for our facility. In addition, we acknowledge that none of this recognition would be possible without our loyal fans. Without their support we would not be able to continue to provide a premier racing facility in our area.
Finally, Colorado National Speedway would like to acknowledge our outstanding drivers and race teams. We continue to provide our fans with the most competitive teams and strong car counts in each of our racing divisions. We certainly know that in these tough economic times continuing to support your love for racing becomes increasingly more difficult each year. We truly appreciate the support you have provided the speedway and understand that you have a choice when it comes to spending your dollars. Thank you to all who continue to help make Colorado National Speedway a success!

Point leader Bruce "the moose" Yackey started on the pole for the 100 lap Rocky's Autos Late Model A Main. 2nd in points, #95 Cris Muhler started in 11th and 3rd in points, #27 Roger Avants had the inside of row 2. 4th in points, speedy Ronnie Hults started in 8th. Bruce Yackey led the first 10, caution-filled laps. Roger Avants stole the lead at lap 11 as a yellow flag flew due to a spin out on the back stretch. Yackey and Avants lined it back up for a double file restart. Yackey took his lead back, but not for long! Avants was sneaking up along the outside and passed him at lap 18. Meanwhile, Hults was patiently moving up the field and took 5th. #57 wrecked at lap 25 when he ran head first into a pile up between turns 2 and 3. Avants, Paul Deines and Eggleston all got hooked up on the restart and blew past Bruce Yackey. It was a 3 car race for first! Avants was able to stick his lead with Eggleston riding close behind. Deines and Speedy Ronnie Hults were 2 car lengths back ready to pounce on the leaders and Robertson was speedily moving up the field. Another spin out brought on more caution lining up the fastest of the fastest for 50 more laps of A Main racing. Eggleston started on the outside of row 1 and ran away with the lead. Ronnie Hults moved up the field via the outside taking 2nd. Another restart saw Hults into the lead. This time he sprouted wings and took off for an 8 car length lead over the rest of the field. Yet another spin out, this time between turns 3 and 4 brought out the red flag. The race resumed with Hults and Eggleston dragging racing as they swapped 1st place back and forth. Chris Eggleston had the lead on a single file restart which sealed his fate as the winner of the 35th annual Snap-On tools, Rocky's Autos Late Model Challenge Cup! Hults finished 2nd, followed by Roger Avants and our season champion #12 Bruce Yackey.
Saturday, September 19th marked the 2nd to last event of the year at Colorado National Speedway. It was the 35th annual Snap-On Tools challenge cup. Over one hundred drivers in 6 different division showed up. Modified Coupes, Super Modified, Figure 8s, Legends and Super Stocks would take to the track for their last night of the 2009 season.
All of the ERA super mod guys delivered what was by far, one of their best races of the season at CNS. #11 Nick Haygood started dead last and spent the first 5 laps charging through the field to take 2nd behind #40 Harry Stone. Things changed for the top dogs when Paco Moralles' #14 supermodified blew up. The field lined back up for a single file restart and it was a safe bet that Haygood would take over the lead. This was not the case. Stone took off on the restart, regaining his massive lead in an instant. With his eyes set on another win, Haygood steadily reeled in Harry Stone until the very last moment, finally passing him AT THE FINISH LINE for the win by about 6 inches. Haygood won the race, but Rich Castor Jr took 3rd place along with the season championship! Congrats to our winners Nick Haygood and Rich Castor Jr! We'll see you guys next year.
Friday, Sept 25th we'll open our gates for our 2nd to last event of the 2009 season. Plenty of your favorite drivers will be out to start hot laps at 10AM SHARP. The price you pay to enter - $0. You've Gotta Be Here!
One of the most popular and well liked drivers at Colorado National Speedway is Richard "the Rock" Burton and as many of you might know Richard was struck by lightening on September 9th. All of us at CNS have been praying for Richard who remains in the hospital. This event has sent shockwaves through the Colorado Racing community.
Regular updates regarding Richard's condition as well as the out pouring of prayers and well wishes are being shared at BigWestRacing.com. Please feel to stop by Big West Racing and check on Richard's condition and send your well wishes along as well.
