(07-20-2013 Dacono, CO) The Colorado Christian University Classic was a night filled with dominating performances as Darren Robertson, Jeff Hansen, and Cris Muhler, all led every lap of their respective feature events.

Gillett Vet Super Late Models
SLM-darren-celebratesThe bright yellow #7 of Adam Deines started on the pole position of the Gillett Vet Clinic Super Late Model feature event and along side was #11 of Darren Robertson. At the drop of the green flag Robertson jumped out to a large lead on the field. It has been a few years since Darren has visited winner’s circle at CNS and it was no more evident than on this night as the large crowd could sense the determination from the young driver who led every lap in dominating fashion.

There were no cautions in the race which worked to Darren’s advantage yet it’s likely it would not have made a difference as the orange #11 Furniture Row Racing Chevy appeared to be the class of the field. The only car within eye sight of Robertson was the #12 of Bruce “the moose” Yackey but even he had nothing for Darren in this race. Behind the two leaders a great battle for 3rd position between #55 Jesse Runkle and #31 Rick Smith had the fans buzzing and behind those two a fantastic 3-way battle between Deines, #22 Chris Eggleston and #27 Roger “the ice-man” Avants created great racing action throughout the field.

With the win Robertson is in 4th place in the season points and within striking distance of Darren Bucklen and Rick Smith who maintain 2nd and 3rd. Yackey’s point lead stands at 43 which puts him in great position to win yet another season championship.

GAM-hansen-celebratesSUNOCO Fuel Grand American Modifieds
Just seven Grand American Modifieds were able to take the green flag for the feature event in the SUNOCO Fuels Grand American Modifieds and #0 Ron O’Neil and #21 Jeff Hunter were on the front row. However in a surprise pre-race twist Hunter elected to start from the back of the pack in an attempt to spice things up.

It only took a couple laps for Hunter to move up into 3rd and then eventually pass O’Neil for second. #77 Jeff Hansen had built a comfortable lead but it was clear Hunter was tracking him down for the position.

Yet, by the halfway mark of the race Hansen had settled into the perfect groove and did not allow Hunter to mount a serious challenge for the win. Hansen took the win with Hunter a few car lengths back in 2nd.

MC-Muhler-celebratesCARC Mod Coupes
A large field of Mod Coupes were on hand but no drivers could catch #95 Cris Muhler who not only led every lap of the feature event to take the win but also won the FAST DASH and set quick time sweeping the night’s events. Muhler has won 4 out of 5 of the feature events this season and has a 24 point lead on second place #55 Gary Land. Land finished 2nd in the feature with #34 Randy Whitman not far behind in the 3rd place. Impressive rookie #21 Jeremy Barclay was 4th and Arvada’s Jamie Bubak in the #12 Coupe was 5th.

Lincoln College Pure Stocks
Dusty Palmore from Thornton started on the pole position for the Pure Stock feature event but when he got sideways in turn one #48 Mike Alvarodo had no place to go and t-boned Palmore sending the #77 car into the wall. Palmore was uninjured but could not continue in the race, luckily for Alvarodo his car suffered only minor damage. On the restart #13 Jamie Ward grabbed the lead and never looked back moving on to take his first win in the series. Behind Ward was DASH winner #07 Mike Steward. and #06 Jeff Dempwolf from Brighton.
