2013 was another incredible season at Colorado National Speedway. Mother nature was a little bit more generous this past season which really made for a fun season of racing. As usual there were plenty of new faces in the pits and some of these young drivers really made an impact on the track. Yet it was the crafty veterans who shined the brightest sending the message to these youngsters “not so fast, there is still a lot of fuel in our tank”.
This was no more evident than in the Gillet Vet Clinic Super Late Model division where Bruce Yackey went on to win his 8th season championship in dominating fashion. 2013 didn’t start off as if it would be another season of “the Moose” as young gun Jesse Runkle won the first feature event. Other young drivers such as Darren Bucklan, Darren Robertson, Dominic Ursetta, and Chris Eggleston also won feature events, but in the end it was the two veterans Bruce Yackey and Rick Smith that finished in the top two spots in the final standings. The Super Late Model division had a VERY strong 2013 season campaign with large car counts and from top to bottom very likely the most competitive group of Super Late Models in the country.

(09-21-2013 Dacono, CO) The only thing sure going into Challenge Cup XXXIX was that Bruce Yackey was on route to winning his 8th track championship but he would have liked to add a Challenge Cup win to his dominating season performance. Both the Super Stock and Figure 8 season championships were completely up for grabs as both divisions had tight
